Job summary

AST, based in Tacoma, WA, is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to join our team. You will assemble industrial machinery per engineering drawings, diagnose electrical issues, and ensure devices test accurately before shipment.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional travel to client sites for installations. Qualified candidates will understand schematics, have assembly experience in a make-to-order environment, and be willing to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Experience in a make-to-order manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds and standing for up to 8 hours per day.
• Willing to travel nationally and internationally up to 30% and with little notice.

Responsibilities

• Assemble industrial machinery per drawings, procedures, and directions.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and test machinery before shipping.
• Drill and tap holes; redline engineered drawings when corrections are needed.
• Organize fixtures; drive a forklift and operate overhead cranes.
• Travel to client sites for installation and repair; participate in meetings.
