Job summary

High Tech Tool in Houston designs and manufactures precision tooling for lathes and machining centers. The Drafter creates detailed 2D drawings for CNC turning tools and inserts, ensuring compliant manufacturing data for production.

The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, with strong attention to tolerances, and collaboration with customers and machinists to interpret specifications for tooling solutions. Experience with ERP systems and drawing maintenance is a plus.

Job description

High Tech Tool is looking for a Drafter, familiar with machining tools used on Lathes and Machining Centers. We design and manufacture tools used on these types of machines that are produced from solid steel blocks and/or steel bars that our customers will utilize in order to produce their product lines. Our customers mostly produce products related to raw oil and gas extraction. I have attached a link to our online catalog which gives an idea of what we offer as standard tools, approximately 20-25% of what we offer. The balance of our sales are related to proprietary agreements and/or specific tooling needs for unique new tool designs, generated by High Tech Tool to meet the customers needs. AutoCad proficiency is a must and we would prefer some knowledge of SolidWorks to produce manufacturing drawings for our shop and drawings to present to our customers for concept and programming.

Create precise technical 2D drawings in AutoCAD for CNC turning tools, threading inserts, and machine parts.

Verify that designs meet dimensional tolerances and quality specifications.

Work closely with customers and machinists to interpret design specifications, develop, and ensure all designs comply with the customers' standards.

Work with sales to accurately quote new parts.

Use an ERP system to manage and integrate core business processes.

Maintain drawings and records on a Windows based server.
