NPAworldwide is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as the Mechanical Discipline Lead for capital projects in the chemical/petrochemical sector.   • 7+ years leading the mechanical discipline within the chemical or petrochemical manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Define the mechanical scope and deliverables for each project phase.
  • Establish applicable codes, standards, and design requirements with regulatory and safety compliance.
  • Specify static and rotating equipment and materials of construction.
  • Review specifications, datasheets, calculations, drawings, models and other deliverables.
  • Provide technical leadership to mechanical teams and EPC partners.
  • Coordinate with the Company Project Manager and EPC Project Manager for scope, priorities, interfaces, quality, and schedule.
  • Identify mechanical risks early and develop mitigation plans.
  • Develop and implement standards, procedures, and templates to improve quality and consistency.
  • Make sound project-level mechanical decisions with limited supervision.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as the Mechanical Discipline Lead for assigned capital projects. In this role, you will have overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, execution, and technical integrity of the mechanical discipline, acting as the single point of accountability for all mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities include:

  • Defining the mechanical scope and deliverables for each project phase, including FEL-2 scope development and FEL-3/FEED equipment specifications supporting cost estimates.
  • Establishing the applicable codes, standards, and design requirements while ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and company requirements.
  • Specifying static and rotating equipment for the required service, including selection of appropriate materials of construction.
  • Reviewing and approving specifications, datasheets, calculations, drawings, models, and other deliverables prepared by engineering partners and equipment vendors.
  • Providing technical leadership to the mechanical teams of our engineering and EPC partners.
  • Coordinating with the Company Project Manager and EPC Project Manager to maintain alignment on scope, priorities, interfaces, quality, and schedule.
  • Identifying mechanical risks early, developing mitigation plans, and clearly communicating recommendations and decisions to project and senior leadership.
  • Developing and implementing standards, procedures, and templates where gaps exist to improve quality, consistency, and standardization across projects.
  • Making sound project-level mechanical decisions with limited supervision while recognizing when specialist input or leadership escalation is appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7/10+ years of relevant experience, including demonstrated experience leading the mechanical discipline within the chemical or petrochemical manufacturing industry.
  • 5+ Years Project Engineering Experience projects.
