Job summary

Honda is seeking an Engineer II to join our chassis components team. You will deliver defined engineering tasks, perform testing, and collaborate across groups to meet reliability and regulatory targets.

This role offers hands-on hardware evaluation, opportunities to expand technical knowledge, and potential for overtime and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering required.
  • Experience with testing instrumentation and calibration preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to travel and work overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Gather latest hardware specs and compile development plans.
  • Coordinate with departments to align hardware maturation schedules.
  • Investigate hardware issues and propose corrective plans.
  • Report hardware maturation status to management.
  • Perform experimental testing to support product development and summarize results.

Job Purpose

As a department member, you bring chassis components and technologies into our vehicles, ensuring that all marketability, reliability, regulatory, profitability, manufacturing, and test requirements and targets are achieved. At the Engineer II level, you deliver defined engineering assignments (i.e., testing) with guidance while expanding the breadth of your technical knowledge and starting to deepen your expertise.

Key Accountabilities
  • Strategy: Gather the latest global hardware specs from GO / RO ADC and compile a comprehensive plan for application to future responsible development models.
  • Advise: Work directly with departmental function groups to guarantee harmonious hardware maturation schedules and lead critical meetings to resolve conflicts between competing groups / departments.
  • Problem Solving: Support investigation of hardware concerns that come up during development and develop corrective hardware plans as necessary.
  • Communication: Clearly and concisely report the status of hardware maturation to both function management side.
  • Execute: Conduct experimental testing to determine hardware design and spec, supporting product development activities and schedules; summarize results and report technical conclusions within the group and department.
Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 0-2 years related experience or equivalent level of education and experience.
  • Experience with testing instrumentation and calibration (microphones, accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, etc.) is preferred.
  • Proficient PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other technical software) and excellent communication / interpersonal skills are required. Ability to travel and work overtime may be required.
Working Conditions
  • Our unique environment allows for a combination of desk (approximately 70% sitting & standing) and hands-on work (approximately 30% walking & lifting/reaching).
