Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a software/engineering field or related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in application development, support, or software delivery.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, C#, .NET, or .NET Core.
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with tools like Visual Studio, Git, and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure and services (EC2, S3, IAM).
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Software & System Design Engineer I is responsible for supporting, maintaining, enhancing, and developing applications that enable testing and performance verification for Automotive, Powersports, and Power Equipment products. This role combines full-stack application development with AWS cloud infrastructure support to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure test system solutions.

The position works closely with business stakeholders, Enterprise IT Services, Japan IT teams, and application vendors to support physical testing applications, test data management systems, and Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation (HILS) environments. The engineer will participate in the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of applications while assisting with AWS infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and operational support.

The role also collaborates with New Model Development Systems teams to support integrations with engineering tools and platforms such as Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

Key Accountabilities
  • Responsible for tools, processes & cloud platforms within Test Systems team
  • Provide day-to-day application support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution
  • Maintains system functionality and provides user support and training. Documents processes and procedures.
  • Support and operate AWS cloud services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch to ensure reliable and secure environments.
  • Assist with cloud infrastructure provisioning and automation using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools).
  • Monitor cloud environments, troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues, and implement operational improvements.
  • New Technology Implementation - Work required to implement new solutions with some decisions/autonomy and project leadership. Evaluate/assure quality and performance.
  • Contributes to programs implementing next-generation Test System solutions
  • Performs assigned tasks on projects led by others, including full-stack application development across front-end, back-end, APIs, databases, and system integrations.
  • Creates, publishes, and maintains project design deliverables, including workflow diagrams, system architecture diagrams, test cases, technical documentation, and user training guides.
  • Using languages such as C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, and related technologies, develops and maintains full-stack applications, automates system tasks, enhances existing solutions, integrates enterprise systems, and delivers scalable software solutions that improve business efficiency and user experience

Minimum Educational Qualifications

A bachelor’s level degree in Software Engineering / Computer Science / Computer Information Systems / Information Technology / Mechanical, Aerospace / Automotive Engineering

Minimum Experience

0-2 years of relevant experience

Experience in application development, support, maintenance, or software delivery through internships, co‑ops, academic projects, or professional roles.

Experience with one or more programming languages and frameworks such as Python, C#, .NET, or .NET Core.

Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle.

Familiarity with development tools including Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Git, and SQL Server Management Studio.

Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure and operations, including services such as EC2, S3, IAM, or related cloud technologies.

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
