Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Wilmington, Delaware seeks a Mechanical Desk Engineer to support locomotives through fleet monitoring and maintenance planning while providing on-site technical support. The role requires 2nd shift working 10am–8:30pm, Sunday to Wednesday or Wed–Sat, with weekend/holiday coverage.

You will collaborate with product managers, software engineers and field technicians to improve maintenance practices, perform root cause analyses and update documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or practical maintenance experience in a technical field.
• Strong problem solving and initiative to handle changing situations.
• Proficient computer skills and willingness to learn CMMS software.
• Excellent communication, listening, and organizational abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 5% domestically.
• Experience in maintenance planning is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor fleet performance and provide equipment surveillance support for locomotives.
• Assist in driving reliability and continuous improvement to cut downtime and costs.
• Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and field technicians to improve maintenance practices.
• Provide real-time live phone support to end-users as needed.
• Support failure investigations and root cause analyses.
• Regularly review and update maintenance practices and related documentation.
• Diagnose problems, propose solutions, and ensure timely resolution.

Education

Associate’s degree in a technical field

5+ years of maintenance planning experience
