Job summary

Absen Inc. seeks a Mechanical Designer in Technical Services to bridge between headquarters in China and the U.S. team, delivering engineering solutions, supporting pre- and post-sales activities, and managing technical documentation.

The role involves CAD design (AutoCAD, SolidWorks/Inventor/Pro-E), drawings per ASME standards, and field support including on-site installations and training. Travel across the U.S. is required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.
• Minimum 1-year LED/AV experience preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks/Inventor/Pro-E.
• Must have knowledge of ASME Y14.110-2000 & Y14.5-1994 drawings.

Responsibilities

Job Description & Essential Functions of the Mechanical Designer, Technical Services

The Mechanical Designer, Technical Services will serve as the liaison between headquarters, China, and the U.S. Absen team. This position will perform a variety of complex technical tasks and support the sales team with pre-sales opportunities and post-sales services, providing engineering solutions to clients, regional product management, managing engineering documents, and performing internal and external training.

Essential Functions:

• Answer all technical questions from current and prospective clients and the sales team
• Listen to sales conversations and help build strategy to win the opportunity
• Provide technical assistance to clients as well as prospects, including site surveys, designing parts and accessories, and making mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Provide support to the repair service team in areas of repair, service, or installation
• Draft technical documents such as specs, drawings, instructions, etc
• Provide internal and external product training
• Assist with post-sales events, such as project management, support and development
• Serve as a liaison between the customer and the company
• Serve as a liaison between headquarters, China, and the USA Absen team
• Participate in tradeshows, conferences, demos, trainings, and other business-related events
• Provide daily technical (troubleshooting) phone and online support for all Absen customers
• Conduct onsite technical installation for clients all over the United States
• Deliver onsite technical installation consultation and provide clear instructions
• Field and manage support calls as assigned
• Travel to customer sites as needed to coordinate duties listed above
• Prepare warehouse Demos and site support for the demos
• Escalation management process (when applicable)
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management
• Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD and Solid Works/Inventor/Pro-E or equivalent
• Must have knowledge of ASME Y14.110-2000 & Y14.5-1994 drawings
• Must have knowledge of various fabrications and assembly, including metal machining. Sheet metal fabrication, and molding
• Must have knowledge of electrical systems, products and components
• Must have knowledge of industry specifications for materials, parts, and processes

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Minimum 1-year LED/AV experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to independently set up and dismantle LED display demonstration equipment for customer presentations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment weighing up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand for periods of up to 2 hours during demonstrations and presentations.

Work Location:

• May be required to work overtime or flexible hours on an as-needed basis

Travel:

• May be required to travel throughout the year for business meetings, tradeshows, training, demos, and other business-related events
• May be required to travel back and forth from SZ HQ and Orlando HQ

Language:

• Must be able to understand, speak, and write the English language
• Must be able to understand and speak the Chinese language

Compensation range:

Hourly rate from USD20 and up, depending on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
