Job summary

Sterling Engineering is seeking a skilled designer to draft sketches and 3D models for power plant systems, including steam cycles, water treatment, and fuel handling. The role involves ensuring deliverables meet industry codes and company standards while adhering to schedules.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of related design experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Drafting and Design, and proficiency with Autodesk, SmartPlant 3D, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Drafting and Design or related discipline.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; able to browse the web and email effectively.
• Knowledge of drafting software including Autodesk, SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Draft sketches, piping and instrument diagrams, or model 3D equipment items for power plant systems.
• Check design deliverables against codes, standards, contracts, and company standards.
• Adhere to schedules and assign tasks to ensure project completion.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, and team members, and support progress and results.
• Train and advise interns or new graduates.

Overview:

• Draft sketches, piping and instrument diagrams, or model 3D equipment items for power plant systems including steam cycle systems, boiler feed and condensate, water treatment, fuel handling, hydraulic, heat transfer systems, conveying systems, and air and gas systems.
• Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
• Adhere to schedules and work assignments to ensure successful project completion.
• Coordinate with other drafters, designers and other team members assigned to a project or task, and support work progress and results.
• Train and advise interns or new graduates

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years’ related design experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Drafting and Design or related discipline
• Proficient in basic computer programs including MS Word and Excel, web browsing and e-mail programs
• Knowledge of drafting software including Autodesk, SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD
