Job summary

System One is seeking a Mechanical Designer in Bellevue, WA. This onsite, yearlong contract role focuses on creating structural and mechanical design solutions for test-related designs, developing 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for advanced IV nuclear reactors, and maintaining robust models with advanced techniques.

The position requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 3+ years of relevant experience and proficiency in SolidWorks, GD&T, and DFM/ DFA practices.

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
• Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience checking fabrication drawings and DF(M)A principles.
• Nuclear design experience is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with product data management (PDM) systems.

Responsibilities

• Create structural and mechanical design solutions for test-related designs (e.g., test fixtures, test rigs, flow loops, sub-scale test articles).
• Develop 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for advanced IV nuclear reactors in accordance with industry standards.
• Produce robust CAD models using advanced modeling techniques to support rapid design evolution.
• Develop and maintain complex mechanical designs, conducting trade studies to identify optimal solutions.
• Support analysis by configuring models for structural, neutronics, thermal-hydraulic, radiological, and safety considerations.
