Job summary

ENFRA is seeking a Mechanical Designer I to support HVAC and building system design for hospital and college campus projects under supervision. You will learn drafting, modeling, and documentation standards while assisting with drawings, equipment schedules, and system layouts.

You will perform basic HVAC calculations, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and contribute to energy-saving design efforts. Travel 10-25% to job sites.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, or 2 - 4 years of design experience in lieu of a degree.
• 1+ years of experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, automatic temperature control systems, and/or testing, adjusting, and balancing.
• Developing technical understanding of HVAC systems and building mechanical infrastructure.
• Ability to follow direction, incorporate feedback, and manage assigned tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Developing communication skills with internal project teams.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC drawings, plans, sections, details, and schedules using Revit, AutoCAD, or other design platforms.
• Assist with basic HVAC load calculations, ventilation calculations, equipment sizing, and system takeoffs.
• Support senior staff in laying out ductwork, piping, terminal units, diffusers, grilles, equipment, and mechanical room components.
• Implements system configurations and control schemes prepared by others with emphasis on long-term energy savings.
• Occasionally, support senior staff in layout of domestic water, sanitary, storm water, medical gas, laboratory gas, and fire suppression piping and equipment.
• Incorporate redlines, markups, and quality-control comments into design documents.
