Job summary

Afinitas in Des Moines, Iowa is expanding with a satellite engineering office and seeks Mechanical Designers/Drafters at all levels to join the team. You will develop layouts and detailed designs for industrial equipment, and contribute to meaningfully engineered solutions across the build cycle.

Candidates with Associate or Bachelor in drafting or mechanical engineering and proficiency in SolidWorks or AutoCAD are encouraged to apply.

• Experience across entry to senior design roles is welcome.

Afinitas is expanding and launching a new satellite technical office in Des Moines, Iowa, and we're looking for Mechanical Designers/Drafter at all experience levels to join our growing team.

Whether you're an early-career designer looking to develop your CAD and equipment design skills or an experienced designer ready to take on complex machinery projects, this is a unique opportunity to help shape a new engineering presence while creating innovative industrial equipment solutions.

What You'll Do

• Developing layouts and detailed designs for industrial equipment and mechanical systems
• Creating manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation
• Performing design analysis to support equipment performance and manufacturability
• Creating and maintaining accurate bills of material (BOMs)
• Evaluating and implementing design improvements and engineering changesli>
• Collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams throughout the build process
• Supporting troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
• Utilizing SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other design tools to create customer-focused solutions
• Managing multiple projects while meeting established schedules and deliverables

What We're Looking For

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Experience ranging from entry-level through senior design positions
• Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD platforms
• Understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerances
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical design principles
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
