Job summary

Tech Partners is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of complex industrial equipment used in refining, petrochemical, and power generation sectors.

You will work on large-scale projects involving fired heaters, boilers, heat transfer equipment, and heavy steel structures, contributing to process improvements and engineering best practices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of mechanical design, drafting, or detail engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with heavy steel structures and industrial equipment design.
  • 3D modeling experience (Tekla Structures or SolidWorks).
  • Familiarity with ASME, AWS, ASTM, and AISC standards.
  • Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or industrial manufacturing environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed fabrication, erection, demolition, and general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD and advanced 3D modeling tools.
  • Create and maintain 3D models of industrial process equipment and structural assemblies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, manufacturing partners, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the development and improvement of design standards, modeling practices, and engineering processes.
  • Assist with equipment modifications, retrofit projects, and field design activities when required.
  • Apply industry codes, specifications, and drafting standards to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Contribute to innovative solutions for complex engineering and fabrication challenges.

Job description

We're partnering with a growing engineering organization that is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of complex industrial equipment used in the refining, petrochemical, and power generation sectors.

This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale projects involving fired heaters, boilers, heat transfer equipment, and heavy steel structures. The ideal candidate is passionate about design, enjoys solving technical challenges, and is eager to contribute to process improvements, innovation, and the continued evolution of engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed fabrication, erection, demolition, and general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD and advanced 3D modeling tools.
  • Create and maintain 3D models of industrial process equipment and structural assemblies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, manufacturing partners, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the development and improvement of design standards, modeling practices, and engineering processes.

Preferred Background
  • 3+ years of mechanical design, drafting, or detail engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and experience creating fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with heavy steel structures and industrial equipment design.
  • Strong interest in or experience with 3D modeling software such as Tekla Structures or SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with industry standards including ASME, AWS, ASTM, and AISC.
  • Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or industrial manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
