Job summary

A leading consulting firm is seeking a Drafter/Engineer to join their mission-driven team in Town of Florida, NY. You will be responsible for reviewing project specifications, maintaining engineering drawings, and collaborating with Project Managers. Required qualifications include an Associate degree in Drafting or CAD Technology with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent. Proficiency in Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD, Inventor, and iLogic is necessary. This position offers a salary of $38 - $40 per hour and can be either permanent or contract based.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Drafting or CAD Technology.
• 8+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering or drafting environment may substitute for a degree.
• Hands-on experience with Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD, Inventor, and iLogic.

Responsibilities

• Review project requirements and specifications before design work.
• Prepare and maintain engineering drawings and documentation.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to define project scope and timelines.
• Develop drawings using CAD methods.
• Analyze drawings and project specifications.
• Produce and update drawings according to project scope.
• Review drawings created by other drafters.
• Support Project Managers in technical documentation and cost estimates.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Review project requirements, specifications, and design information to ensure completeness and feasibility before initiating design work.
• Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, documentation, and calculations using Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD, Inventor, and iLogic.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to define project scope, key functions, and timelines required to complete assigned projects.
• Develop drawings using appropriate CAD methods, including customized client templates, standard company templates, or revisions to existing CAD files.
• Analyze drawings, technical data, and project specifications to support effective project planning and design execution.
• Produce and update drawings in accordance with project scope, ensuring accuracy and making revisions as required through the quality review process.
• Review drawings created by other drafters to ensure alignment with project scope and company drafting standards.
• Support Project Managers in developing project scopes, technical documentation, and cost estimates.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting or CAD Technology with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of demonstrated experience in a mechanical engineering or drafting environment may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Hands-on experience with Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD, Inventor, and iLogic is required.

• Experience or familiarity with sheet metal and piping design.

• Completion of a CAD skills assessment to demonstrate drafting and design proficiency.
