Job summary

ERMCO, based in Dyersburg, TN, seeks a Mechanical Designer to assist in designing transformers and related components. The role requires an intermediate designer able to work with cross‑functional teams and ensure compliance with IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA standards.

Onsite work in Dyersburg with relocation assistance. You will develop enclosures, assemblies, and related components, contribute to failure analysis, and prepare engineering documentation under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification required.
  • 2-3 years of drafting or mechanical design experience, preferably transformer's related.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks (coursework/internship acceptable).
  • Familiarity with IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA and DOE standards for transformers or components.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.
  • Organized and able to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Hands-on transformer experience or product knowledge may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in data collection and failure analysis under supervision.

Job SummaryThe Mechanical Designer role is responsible for assisting in the design and development of transformers and related components. As an intermediate designer, the Mechanical Designer is capable of independent work, has developed basic technical skills, and is experienced in engineering practices. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and supports the execution of design tasks while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

This role will be onsite in Dyersburg, TN. Relocation Assistance is available.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop transformer related enclosures, assemblies, and related components under the guidance of more experienced engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA).
  • Contribute to failure analysis efforts by collecting data and assisting in identifying potential causes under supervision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service to ensure successful integration of designs into production.
  • Prepare and maintain basic engineering documentation, including design notes, reports, and test results, under close supervision.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to discussions by providing data and technical support.
  • Learn and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory requirements to support compliant designs.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in process and product improvements as directed.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in technical field or related technical certification
  • 2-3 years of experience in drafting or mechanical design, with a focus on transformer or related product design
  • Proficiency with basic design and analysis tools, such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks (coursework or internship experience acceptable).
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (e.g. DOE) for transformers or components.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills in transformer or related product design.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Organized, with the ability to manage assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
