Johnson Controls is hiring a Mechanical Designer to drive New Product Development, product enhancements and sustaining engineering across a dedicated product line. You will collaborate with Product Design Managers and cross-functional teams to translate concepts into precise, manufacturable designs.

The role is remote for US-based candidates and requires CREO experience, a mechanical design background, and familiarity with sheet metal and DFM. A technical degree is preferred.

What you will do

Johnson Controls is hiring a Mechanical Designer! If you're passionate about innovation and product development, this is your opportunity to make a direct impact on industry-leading solutions. In this role, you'll drive New Product Development, Product Enhancements, and Sustaining Engineering initiatives across a dedicated product line. Working closely with Product Design Managers and cross-functional teams, you'll bring concepts to life while ensuring projects are delivered with precision, quality, and efficiency. You'll collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fellow designers to transform ideas into successful products that power our customers' success.


This is a remote opportunity for candidates based in the US. Only US citizens and/or permanent residents of the US will be considered for this role.


How you will do it

  • Proficient knowledge of 3D design software (CREO) and general knowledge of 3d Design Intent Concepts
  • Continually monitor design project to identify potential risk and adjusts when/where necessary.
  • Possesses a high level of mechanical design understanding, demonstrated through tool-based tasks such as:
  • System or large assembly layouts
  • Sheet Metal construction and DFM
  • Drawing Creation and Drawing Best Practices
  • PDM System related file management processes
  • Ability to work with ambiguity regarding design specifications; researching and communicating with various departments to resolve gaps in scope.
  • Demonstrates proficient knowle
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and develop designs that are well aligned with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge of design procedures such as retrieving and apply information from engineering standards and schematics, purchasing and manufacturing specifications for preparation, release and revision of drawings and Bills of Material.

What we look for
Required

  • CREO experience
  • Technical/Associate Degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting with 2+ years of experience, or 5+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Sheet metal, piping, and large assembly design
  • US Citizen and/or Permanent Resident of the United States.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $30.00 - $40.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
