Job summary

NorthAmCon, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Design Technician / CAD Designer to join our Engineering team in Alpena, MI. This role focuses on developing manufacturing drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and technical documentation to support design and production of material handling equipment.

Work closely with Engineers, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Operations to translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs, maintain engineering records, and support projects through production.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant CAD, drafting, manufacturing, or engineering support experience.
• 0–3 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, manufacturing, or engineering support.
• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
• Material handling, industrial equipment, or manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed manufacturing drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
• Develop customer approval drawings and engineering documentation.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Prepare work instructions, inspection documents, and testing procedures.
• Maintain design files, revisions, and engineering records.
• Assist with gathering job information for quoting and project planning.
• Support Engineers with product design and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Operations to resolve design-related issues.
• Attend project meetings and provide status updates.
• Support product inspections and testing activities.
• Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
• Occasional travel to customer or manufacturing sites may be required.

NorthAmCon is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Mechanical Design Technician / CAD Designer to join our growing Engineering team. This position focuses on developing manufacturing drawings, 3D models, Bills of Materials, and technical documentation that support the design and production of material handling equipment.

Working closely with Engineers, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Operations teams, you will transform customer requirements into accurate and manufacturable designs while maintaining engineering documentation and supporting projects through production.

Knowledge Required
