NEP Group Inc. seeks a senior Mechanical Design leader to head the Mechanical Design team for broadcast and production equipment at NEP’s Systems Integration facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Design, or related field.
  • 5+ years of industry related experience.
  • Knowledge of vehicle design for mobile television facilities including structural engineering, power systems and HVAC.
  • AutoCAD detailed design and shop drawings for consoles, cabinetry, racking systems, power systems and other mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of broadcast technology, equipment, facilities, and production terminology.
  • Plan projects according to schedules within tight deadlines and implement cost effectively.
  • Knowledge of acoustical design principles for Audio room design.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Vault, Autodesk CFD, Microsoft Office suite, and 3D printing tools.
  • Willingness to travel to various site locations.

The purpose of this position is to lead the Mechanical Design team in the design of broadcast and production equipment while specializing in mechanical systems at NEP’s Systems Integration facility.

  • Designs and develops new or existing facilities/systems with specialization in television mobile unit trailer, Fly Pack and Studio systems. This includes layouts (structural, power and HVAC), interior and console design, interior and exterior materials and finishes.
  • Works from requirements or instructions to design and develop complex new components or redesign existing components to improve equipment and systems.
  • Offers new and innovative techniques, methodology, and materials to improve systems, installation.
  • Oversees the assembly, fabrication, and tests of prototypes and equipment.
  • Assists in developing budgets and client proposals for these projects.
  • Provides training to employees, freelancers, and apprentices in NEP fabrication and installation techniques.
  • Communicates with vendors and manufacturers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of specified items.
  • Serves as a consultant to clients and NEP staff on mechanical issues.
  • Works in coordination with the Design team, Project Manager, Coordinator, supervisor, and other construction and maintenance personnel to keep projects on schedule.
Position Requirements
  • Holds Bachelor’s Degree Engineering, Design, or a related field; however, a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Requires 5+ years of industry related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle design for mobile television facilities including structural engineering, power systems and HVAC systems. Canadian CSA knowledge a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and produce detailed design and shop drawings in Auto-Cad for consoles, cabinetry, racking systems, power systems and other mechanical systems used in television facilities.
  • Possesses demonstrated knowledge of broadcast technology, equipment, facilities, and production terminology.
  • Plans projects according to schedules within tight deadlines and implements them efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Knowledge of acoustical design principles for Audio room design
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Vault, Autodesk CFD, Microsoft Office suite, and 3D printing tools.
  • Requires travel to various site locations during projects and installations.
