Job summary

Garmin is seeking a hard-working Mechanical Engineering Intern for its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will help develop concepts and design mechanical or electromechanical products, and work with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life.

The role emphasizes CAD skills (SolidWorks), rapid prototyping, and collaboration with Industrial Designers, Electrical, and Process Engineers to ensure manufacturability and efficiency in production.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree; GPA >=3.0.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High academic performance preferred (GPA >=3.5 for applicants).

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical/electromechanical components or assemblies.
  • Create electronic packages using CAD systems such as SolidWorks.
  • Coordinate with Industrial Designers, Electrical, and Process Engineers during product development.
  • Support manufacturing readiness by detailing parts and processes for mass production.
  • Maintain documentation control for production-ready designs.
  • Participate in testing and analysis of new materials and processes.
