Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to support the Orlando, FL site. The role involves developing CREO layouts, building BOMs in Windchill, and collaborating with IPT and supply chain to ensure design excellence.

You will participate in drawing releases, change requests, and design reviews, while performing trade studies on cost, weight, and performance. A great fit for hands-on problem-solvers pursuing a mechanical engineering degree.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
• Basic understanding of CAD design tools, such as PTC Creo, 3DX/CATIA, Solidworks, Siemens NX etc.
• Demonstrated successful group collaboration and/ or individual project work, ideally in a mechanics or design area.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, work with system integration issues, design challenges, etc. demonstrated through hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles
• Building BOMs (Bill of Materials) creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM
• Interacting with IPT team suppliers, Global Supply Chain, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence
• Contributing to drawing releases, responding to Change Requests (CRs), generating Change Notices (CN's), and supporting change boards and design reviews
• Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits
