Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is offering a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern role in Canoga Park, CA. The intern will support both new product development and factory support of existing products, working directly with designers on CAD models and part documentation, and processing ECOs as needed.

Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace/Engineering Mechanics or related fields.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in a relevant engineering field at an accredited university.
• Experience with CAD/FEA tools and mechanical design or analysis is preferred.
• Familiarity with structural mechanics, fatigue, and damage tolerance concepts is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support for new product development and existing products.
• Collaborate with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation.
• Generate and process engineering change orders (ECOs) as required.

Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked, and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

• Provide mechanical engineering support for both new product development activities as well as factory support of existing products
• Work directly with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation
• Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECO’s) as required

Qualifications:

• Must bepursuing abachelor'sdegree, amaster'sdegree, or a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials ScienceEngineeringorrelatedfieldat an accredited university.

Preferred Skills:

• CAD or analysis (FEA) tools exposure, and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems,structuresand mechanisms
• Must be able to apply the principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities
• Familiarity with finite element methods and fatigue
• Familiarity with finite element methods and fatigue and damage tolerance principles

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $25/hr- $47.50/hr This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
