This approach delivers industry-leading lead times, superior craftsmanship, and consistent product quality.

ARON partners closely with architects, engineers, lighting designers, and end users to create luminaires that transform spaces. Products are built around advanced optics and proprietary LED engines, and every ARON luminaire is proudly designed, engineered, and built in the USA.

JOB SUMMARY

ARON Lighting is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer whose primary responsibility will be leading the development and coordination of technical shop drawings in SolidWorks for customer projects, while also supporting new product development and continuous product improvement.

This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career engineer who enjoys detailed technical work, takes ownership of documentation, and collaborates closely with industrial designers, sales, and manufacturing teams. The position plays a critical role in translating product designs into accurate, buildable, and customer-approved shop drawings, ensuring alignment between design intent and fabrication.

In addition to shop drawings, the Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to product development efforts, gaining exposure to the full product life cycle within a fast-paced, in-house manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as the technical point of contact for customer and project-based shop drawings, incorporating multiple ARON Lighting products into cohesive, approval-ready packages.

Coordinate closely with industrial designers, sales, and manufacturing to ensure shop drawings meet customer requirements, manufacturing constraints, and project schedules.

Create and maintain standardized shop drawing templates and systems used for customer approval and internal fabrication.

Translate product designs and configurations into detailed mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.

Support new product development by designing and refining mechanical parts and assemblies for manufacturability and performance.

Assist with thermal and structural analysis to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and environmental requirements.

Respond quickly to technical issues identified during review, approval, or manufacturing phases.

Continuously evaluate designs and drawings for accuracy, efficiency, and manufacturability.

Clearly communicate technical details, revisions, and design intent to internal stakeholders.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

0–5 years of experience in mechanical design, product engineering, or related roles.

Experience producing shop drawings, fabrication drawings, or approval drawings is strongly preferred.

Lighting, architectural, or electromechanical product experience is a plus, but not required.

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Comfortable owning and managing multiple shop drawing packages simultaneously.

Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and mechanical design fundamentals.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Self-motivated and eager to grow technical responsibility over time.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
