Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, manufacturing methods, materials, tolerances, and fabrication processes.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex customer specifications and project requirements and translate them into practical mechanical designs.
• Ability to develop custom engineering solutions while leveraging existing designs, standards, and proven practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs for transformer and power equipment projects based on customer specifications and design criteria.
• Review customer specs and translate them into appropriate mechanical designs for each project.
• Create and maintain 3D models, part drawings, assembly drawings, layouts, schematics, and other docs.
• Develop equipment layouts considering electrical clearances, structural requirements, manufacturability, serviceability, and configuration.
• Define and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering docs for procurement and manufacturing.
• Prepare drawings and technical docs for manufacture and purchase of components.
• Collaborate with Electrical and Project Engineering to ensure designs meet electrical, thermal, insulation, and customer requirements.
• Perform mechanical design calculations and evaluations to validate designs and component selections.
• Support manufacturing by troubleshooting design issues and providing solutions.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input throughout design, manufacturing, testing, and project execution.
• Interface with customers and suppliers on design requirements and changes.
