Job summary

SGB-SMIT USA, a division of SGB-SMIT Group, seeks a Drafter/Designer to contribute to transformer design in a dynamic energy environment. The role focuses on mechanical design using AutoCAD 2D and Autodesk Inventor 3D, ensuring compliance with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, and customer requirements.

You will work with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical components and leverage sheet metal and bus work knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (minimum) from a technical program using CAD software.
  • 4 years working experience as a Drafter/Designer; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Machine G & M code is a plus or will be trained.

Responsibilities

  • Create mechanical designs with AutoCad 2D and Inventor 3D meeting ANSI, IEEE, NEC and customer requirements.
  • Create and revise 3D assemblies, including drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Ensure designs meet standards, customer specs and manufacturing capabilities (sheet metal, bus work).
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical components.
  • Apply switchgear knowledge for safety, clearance, and compartmentalization.

Your tasks:
  • Demonstrated experience and high proficiency working with AutoCad 2D (AutoCad Inventor 3D preferred) to create mechanical designs that meet various standards (ANSI, IEEE), codes (NEC, Local, etc) and customer requirements.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience utilizing 3d software creating and revising mechanical assemblies including assembly and part drawings - Autodesk Inventor preferred.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, customer specifications and manufacturing capabilities including sheet metal and bus work.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure mechanical and electrical integration of components.
  • Understanding and utilizing switchgear knowledge in electrical safety, compartmentalization, and clearance standards - MV Switchgear preferred.
Your profile:
  • Associates degree (minimum) from a technical program (electrical/mechanical) using CAD software
  • 4 years working experience as a Drafter/Designer. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Machine G & M code a plus or will be trained.
  • Assist other engineering personnel when required to meet delivery objectives.
