Job summary

ElectraMet, headquartered in Lexington, KY, is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Design Engineer to design and improve wastewater treatment systems. You will create detailed 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, support production, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and 0–2 years of experience; familiarity with GD&T, and manufacturing processes is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years of experience (internship or co-op acceptable).
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, plumbing, fabrication, assembly).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T basics.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience in the water industry is a plus.
• Experience in process controls a plus.
• Experience in fluid dynamics a plus.
• Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or shop environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Assist in the design of tooling, fixtures, and custom mechanical components for manufacturing processes.
• Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure designs meet manufacturability and performance requirements.
• Support prototype and production builds, testing, and validation activities.
• Revise and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and drawing revisions.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
• Troubleshoot design-related issues on the shop floor and implement design improvements.
