Job summary

Jobtailor in Escondido, CA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design cryogenic and high-pressure systems, perform calculations, develop P&IDs, and size valves, pumps, and relief devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years experience or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of fluid transfer systems, including pump selection, pipe flow calculations, and relief valve sizing.
• Ability to read and develop P&IDs.
• Familiarity with pump selection and pump operations.
• Working knowledge of safety and risk assessment techniques (HAZOP/HAZID/What-If) and their integration into design reviews.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks or similar software.
• Required travel up to 25%.
• Ability to meet contractual obligations on schedule and within budget.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering design of cryogenic and high-pressure systems.
• Perform mechanical calculations, including valve sizing, PSV sizing, pump/compressor sizing, pipe stress, and flow modeling.
• Develop mechanical designs such as P&IDs, piping isometrics, pump skid designs, and trailer loading skid designs.
• Apply engineering design codes, including piping system design codes and pressure vessel design codes.
• Select system components.
• Perform thermodynamic and pipe flow calculations.
• Support field start-up and commissioning activities, including on-site troubleshooting, system validation, and collaboration with operations and service teams.
• Interface with customers, provide schedule updates, and submit required project documentation.
• Perform project management for cryogenic transfer systems and high-pressure gas transfer systems.
