Job summary

MRL Consulting Group | Global Niche Technology Recruitment in New York seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and validate components for semiconductor equipment, focusing on MTBF/MTBM improvements. You will translate customer requirements into engineering specs and collaborate across engineering and sales teams.

The role requires a 5–7 year mechanical design background, proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks or Inventor), and experience with GD&T, LabVIEW or COMSOL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years mechanical design experience; semiconductor/vacuum/advanced manufacturing preferred.
• GD&T and thermal/ mechanical systems knowledge.
• Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks/Inventor).
• LabVIEW or COMSOL experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into designs.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Management in new product development and portfolio expansion.
• Understand complex semiconductor equipment and support design of new solutions.
• Create BOMs for new designs and assemblies.
• Design and execute experiments to validate prototypes.
• Prepare detailed technical designs, drawings and 3D models.
• Test prototypes for form, fit and function, including thermal testing.
• Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications for teams.
• Contribute to ongoing R&D capabilities.
• Prioritize and manage customer-driven engineering requests.
• Assist with and lead new R&D projects with the broader Engineering team.
