Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Rockford, IL seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the production of RAT systems and related aerospace hardware across the product lifecycle. You will work with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and production teams to identify root causes, resolve hardware issues, and ensure reliability and performance of critical components.

Qualifications

  • Requires a STEM degree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Experience with rotating mechanical hardware and electro-mechanical systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support production of RAT systems, including turbines, gearboxes, pumps, and actuators.
  • Provide engineering and manufacturing support to suppliers and production sites to resolve hardware producibility issues.
  • Investigate hardware acceptance tests and production issues to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing, operational, and test-related hardware issues.
  • Contribute to development activities, including cost estimates, drawings, and performance requirements.
  • Perform hardware analysis and mechanical design for RAT systems and aerospace applications.
  • Support qualification and performance testing to ensure hardware meets requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement practical solutions.
  • Apply engineering judgment to improve reliability, manufacturability, and quality.
