Kunz is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer I/II in San Francisco to develop modular facilities for hyper-scale data centers. You will work across product design, production planning, manufacturing, and construction, creating repeatable production processes and verifying assembly methods at sites.
The role emphasizes SolidWorks design, BIM familiarity, and production optimization, with travel to construction and manufacturing sites as needed.
Kunz provides model-based design, engineering, and construction management services for complex capital programs. Since 2015, we have supported mission-critical facilities and hyperscale data center programs for clients in the United States and internationally.
Our work brings together product design, engineering, production planning, manufacturing, and construction to improve how complex infrastructure is designed and built.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will support the development of modular systems for hyper-scale data center programs and the processes used to assemble and deploy them.
This position works across product design, production planning, manufacturing, and construction. The work includes developing parametric facility layouts, analyzing production capacity, evaluating assembly sequences, and creating repeatable production processes.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will work alongside senior engineers and collaborate with product teams, trade partners, vendors, and construction teams. The role also includes time at construction and manufacturing sites to verify assembly methods, refine designs, and incorporate field lessons into future product and process improvements.
Candidates are not expected to have experience in every area listed above. We are interested in individuals with a strong mechanical engineering foundation who want to develop their experience across product design, production planning, and field execution.
Kunz is hiring for both Mechanical Design Engineer I and Mechanical Design Engineer II positions. The level offered will be based on the candidate’s experience and technical background.
