Job summary

Alamo Group's Morbark division seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design projects for modifications and new product development. You will work hands-on with steel fabrication, engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, and controls to expand a diverse product line from wood chippers to grinders.

You will partner with sales, production, service, and operations, maintaining prints and driving cost improvements while ensuring documentation accuracy and configuration control across products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Mechanical Engineering; we'll also consider an associate degree and/or relevant work experience in place of formal education.
• 1-3 years of design engineering-related experience, including internship or co-op experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned design and development projects from concept through completion.
• Partner with sales, production, service, and operations teams, providing the technical support they need to make and meet commitments.
• Support manufacturing by maintaining and updating prints to ensure configuration control of products as they're built.
• Pursue your own goals while contributing to department objectives and driving continuous process improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of system and design changes.
• Contribute to systems-related troubleshooting and creative problem-solving.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities for our products and our operations.
• Collaborate with and support other teams and departments as needed.
