Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer in Suwanee, GA to lead the development of complex mechanical products and systems.

You will own design, analysis, scheduling, cost management, and engineering documentation while guiding cross-functional teams to on-time delivery. The ideal candidate brings 1–2 years in machine design, strong fundamentals, 3D CAD proficiency, and experience with weldments, GD&T, and FE analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering
• 1–2 years in machine design in an industrial/manufacturing environment
• 3D CAD of complex mechanical systems
• Drafting per ANSI Y14.5 GD&T
• Weldment design and drawing per AWS D1.1/D1.2
• Knowledge of finite element structural analysis
• Design of machine elements (Bearing, Fastener, Gearbox, Motor, Gears)
• Understanding of stepper and servo drivetrain systems
• Static and strength of materials basics
• Precision machine shop and welding practices
• Up to 30% travel internationally and domestically
• Right to work in the U.S. and export-controlled information access

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical product development projects from concept through implementation.
• Manage schedules, cost estimates, engineering analysis, and documentation.
• Design and specify machine elements for precision motion systems.
• Develop positioning systems and optimize for manufacturability.
• Perform strength, structural, dynamic, and thermal analyses.
• Design weldments per safety standards.
• Support safety certification and CE marking where applicable.
• Troubleshoot complex technical challenges across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and PM teams.
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Communicate technical information to stakeholders and customers.
• Demonstrate leadership in project execution and continuous improvement.
• Foster collaboration and strong interpersonal relationships.
