Job summary

Pivotal Systems in Reno/Fremont is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design precision components for gas flow controllers and related products. You will develop 3D models and drawings, perform tolerance analyses, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability.

The role involves prototype builds, testing, validation, and maintaining design documentation while ensuring SEMI and safety standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in mechanical design of precision components or electromechanical products.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs.

Responsibilities

• Design precision mechanical components and assemblies from concept through production.
• Create 3D models and fully dimensioned 2D drawings in SolidWorks with GD&T.
• Perform tolerance analyses and structural/thermal analyses to verify fit, function, and reliability.
• Collaborate with machining, welding, and precision-cleaning suppliers for UHP gas services.
• Build and test prototypes; run design verification tests and drive design improvements.
• Create and maintain BOMs, release designs and ECOs through PLM/ERP, maintain design history.
• Ensure designs comply with SEMI standards, safety requirements, and customer specs.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and test engineers to integrate sensors, valves, and electronics.
