Job summary

IST Precision Inc. is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer based onsite in the Charlotte Metro Region (Mooresville, NC).

You will design precision machines using 3D SolidWorks, coordinate with in-house fabrication shops, and run diagnostics and testing from concept through build and commissioning. The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of design, manufacturing, or R&D experience with SolidWorks CAD, plus experience with electromechanical systems and

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5+ years in engineering design, manufacturing processes, or R&D engineering with SolidWorks CAD.
• Strong SolidWorks CAD experience.
• Experience designing electromechanical systems and assemblies.
• Broad understanding of machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Design precision machines, automation equipment, and electromechanical assemblies using 3D SolidWorks models and 2D drawings.
• Develop designs from concept through fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Coordinate with manufacturing vendors and in house fabrication and machine shops.
• Run diagnostics, testing, and validation of machines.
• Select and integrate mechanical components such as bearings, motors, actuators, and instrumentation.
• Support prototype development and design validation.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
