Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with 2+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may supplement the degree.
• U.S. citizenship required due to federal nature of work.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance if needed.
• ASME code familiarity, piping-stress fundamentals, and OSHA or equivalent safety coursework encouraged.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience as a mechanical designer focusing on piping, fluid systems, or process equipment in industrial settings.
• CREO pipe/tool design experience.
• Experience sizing and selecting pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and related components.
• Familiarity with pressure-drop calculations, pipe-stress concepts, and basic structural checks.
• Knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME and welding procedures; awareness of industrial safety expectations.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, modification, and layout of facility piping systems, performing component sizing for pumps, motors, heaters, blowers, valves, and pressure vessels.
• Create, update, and redline mechanical/piping drawings, ensuring all work complies with code and industry standards.
• Perform pressure-drop, flow, and basic thermal calculations; assist with CFD/FEA or spreadsheet analyses.
• Conduct pipe-stress and support-structure checks, documenting results for review, and participate in hazard analyses and quality assurance.
• Prepare ROMs, equipment lists, and technical evaluations to support procurement.
• Get hands-on with factory acceptance tests, field inspections, and system troubleshooting under senior staff guidance.
