Job summary

Centrus Energy Corp. in Chillicothe, OH, seeks a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and upgrade advanced process piping for liquids and gases, blending design, field support, and growth under senior mentorship.

This role involves collaborating on piping systems and equipment sizing to ensure safe, efficient operations. You will design and optimize facility piping, create drawings and specs, and perform CFD/FEA or simple thermal analyses as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• ASME code familiarity, piping-stress fundamentals, and OSHA safety coursework encouraged.
• 2+ years hands-on experience in piping, fluid systems, or process equipment in industrial settings.
• Experience sizing and selecting pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and related components.
• Familiarity with pressure-drop calculations and pipe-stress concepts.
• Knowledge of ASME codes and welding procedures; industrial safety familiarity.
• Exposure to AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CFD/FEA, or piping-stress tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, modification, and layout of facility piping systems with component sizing for pumps, motors, heaters, valves, and pressure vessels.
• Create, update, and redline mechanical drawings, plans, and specifications per code and standards.
• Perform pressure-drop, flow, and basic thermal calculations; assist with CFD/FEA analyses.
• Pipe-stress and support-structure checks and safety/reliability reviews.
• Prepare ROMs, equipment lists, and technical evaluations for procurement.
• Field acceptance tests, inspections, and commissioning support under senior guidance.
