Qualifications

Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will play an instrumental role in translating EnergyX's lithium separation technologies into demonstration-scale leading to commercialization. The role will be part of the process engineering team. The position will be responsible for designing, building, troubleshooting, and operating EnergyX pilot and demo projects and lithium separation technology scale-up projects. The position is based in Austin, TX, and international travel (S. America) may be required.

Chemical Plant experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a team of experienced EnergyX scientists and engineers on projects focused on disruptive materials and engineering systems to fundamentally transform scientific aspects of the energy industry including:
  • Mechanical engineering designs on DLE projects.
  • Extensive use of SolidWorks/AutoCAD for developing equipment layout, PFD, P&ID, 3D models, Isometric drawings, and GA drawings.
  • Develop & review mechanical design activities including equipment sizing and configuration, material selection, multiphase flow system, P&ID development, equipment layout, equipment specifications, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Develop data sheets for equipment and values.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on project development and integrations.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Chemical/Mineral Industry.
  • Knowledge of different design/build codes (ASME, DIN-EN or others)
  • Proficiency with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in development, preparation, and checking of P&IDs.
  • Experience in designing, developing, assembling, and troubleshooting machinery.
  • Knowledge of process equipment including piping, valves (manual, control, & relief), pumps, pressure vessels, filters, coalescers, columns, evaporators, mixing tanks, heat exchangers, and reactors.
  • Employees must be willing to go above and beyond to ensure all our systems are designed to the utmost standard.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
