Job summary

GE Vernova in Wilmington, NC seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design Reactor Modification Hardware for the BWR Nuclear Fleet, ensuring operation and safety under stringent standards and regulations. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3-month relevant research, internship, or Co-op experience.
• Experience in mechanical design and drafting practices (2D drawings, 3D modeling).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and drive to innovate in design.
• Effective oral and written communication of progress and plans.

Responsibilities

• Design Reactor Modifications based on requirements and standards within schedule and cost limits.
• Prepare 3D models, drawings, analyses and specifications to support hardware development.
• Collaborate with Tooling, Analysis, Field Deployment, and Services teams to meet quality and safety standards.
• Perform design reviews and present to peers/leadership for feedback.
• Provide technical support through procurement and fabrication processes.
• Document final design to meet all requirements.
• Support outage-period engineering needs with fast-paced problem solving.
