Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Peoria, IL, to design and revise machine systems and components, including undercarriage systems, hydraulic and electrical modules, and attachments. The role spans concept to pre-series production with emphasis on manufacturability and cost targets.

You will create detailed 3D CAD models, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues and ensure delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent) with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with sufficient equivalent experience.
• Strong proficiency in core engineering principles including structural mechanics, hydraulics, heat transfer, electricity, ergonomics, and 3D CAD modeling.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD software (Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0 or 4.0) for designing parts, assemblies, and complete systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine systems and components to meet performance, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Create detailed drawings and build assemblies using 3D CAD while adhering to standards.
• Interface with manufacturing teams and suppliers during prototype development and pre-series production.
