Job summary

WCL Group is partnering with a Fortune 500 Energy and Industrial Technology company in Greenville, SC to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer IV – Design Liaison. This onsite, one-year contract offers a pathway to full-time conversion and a compensation of $53.00–$60.00 per hour.

You will leverage analytical tools, own hardware redesigns for manufacturability, and act as the technical focal for process qualifications and supplier assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience).
• Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, methods, materials, and coatings.
• Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional global organization and rapidly shift day-to-day priorities.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as precision forging, investment casting, machining (milling, drilling, turning, EDM), coating, shot peening, inspection, fixturing.
• Familiarity with Ansys, NX, and other analytical tools.
• Previous non-conformance dispositioning experience of deviating hardware by applying mechanical engineering assessments.
• Relevant experience designing gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery, specifically flow path components.

Responsibilities

• Leverage analytical tools to analyze and deliver solutions for deviant hardware and provide design support to prevent repeat incidents
• Own hardware redesign efforts by revising drawings to enhance manufacturability
• Act as technical focal for qualifications of new processes/changes and second source suppliers
• Conduct technical reviews of design tasks and help assess risks at the component, assembly, and system levels
• Follow standard work and design templates for common issues and contribute to the improvement of design and manufacturing processes or methods
• Ensure adherence to technical standards in design activities, maintaining quality and accuracy
• Apply basic knowledge of gas turbine design to support improvements in part functionality and cost reduction
• Foster a positive work environment, supporting a culture of quality and urgency in collaboration with the supply chain team
