Job summary

Cogent Analytics in Hartford, CT is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems, ensuring safety and reliability across production and engineering teams. The role reports to the CTO and collaborates with fabrication, maintenance, quality, and operations.

You will interpret specs, prepare drawings, manage BOMs, perform analyses, and drive innovation with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge in hydraulic and pneumatic engineered controlled systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Inventor (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Ability to conduct engineering analysis.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
• Familiarity with applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Interpret technical specifications to develop conceptual drawings and bill of materials.
• Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and equipment in alignment with project specifications.
• Prepare engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation.
• Prepare test procedures and conduct performance testing on various types of assemblies.
• Perform analysis to validate designs.
• Evaluate product performance and implement improvements to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Operations to support manufacturability and resolve technical issues.
• Research new materials, methods, and technologies to support continuous improvement and innovation.
• Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and vendors as required.
