About LPS Projects Group
The Lifecycle Performance Services division was started in 2018 to serve our customer’s needs throughout their facility’s lifecycle. We provide warranty, maintenance, system assessment, tech support, spare parts, and retrofit services to a wide range of companies in the logistics and warehouse distribution/fulfillment industries.
The LPS Projects Group focuses on system optimization, additions, retrofits, and upgrades to our customer’s conveyor systems. We specialize in a wide range of equipment types such as automated sorters, singulators, gappers, extendable conveyors, and transport conveyors. Our projects range in size from small equipment swap outs to complete subsystem installs.
Job Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer III position is a senior design engineer role with expanded responsibilities. Depending on need, they will serve as the lead engineer on smaller LPS projects or as part of the design team on larger projects.
When acting as the lead engineer the Engineer will be part of a cross-discipline project team, responsible for the successful and on time completion of conveyor upgrade and facility improvement projects. They will work closely with project managers, electrical and controls engineers, and installation teams. On these projects the Lead Designer will be responsible for the successful execution of all tasks related to mechanical engineering on a project. These include engineering schedule, concept design, equipment manifests, equipment and material selection, creating material requisitions and securing bids in support of procurement, creation of installation drawings, field support, project documentation, and overall adherence to customer and governing agency specifications.
When the Mechanical Design Engineer is part of a project design team, their role is to aid in the successful and on time completion of conveyor upgrade and system integration projects. They work closely with a Mechanical Project Engineer and other Mechanical Design Engineers to complete the mechanical engineering portion of the projects. In this role the Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the successful creation of fabrication and installation drawings, bill of materials, and associated designs and documents under the direction of a Project Engineer. They are responsible for reviewing all relevant project documents to ensure accuracy and adherence to customer and governing agency specifications. Other tasks include, but are not limited to, performing site surveys, providing field support, preparing drawing submittals for customers and install teams, checking project drawings and documents for accuracy, performing site audits for as-builts, and preparing project close out documents.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Software:
Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc
Autodesk AutoCad, Inventor, and Vault required. Autodesk Recap, Navisworks, BIM and HyCad plug-in preferred
Skills:
Mechanical aptitude, oral and written communications, teamwork and collaboration, problem solving, work independently, self-starting, willingness to learn, time management, and able to manage multiple projects at a time.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering and design.
Four plus years of experience in material handling equipment design for parcel or distribution and fulfillment, or direct experience with FORTNA business practices.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
