Mpac Switchback is a manufacturer of secondary packaging equipment utilized in Brewery, Beverage, Food, Personal Care, Medical and Specialty market verticals.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer II must be able to design full systems of automated equipment. The ME II must be someone who can work independently as well as in a team environment, apply sound engineering concepts, illustrate critical thinking, and communicate well with co-workers and customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conceptualize, design, debug and develop specific purpose machinery.

Serve as a key resource for implementation of MPAC design standards and procedures.

Create system-level drawings for fabricated items.

Create assembly drawings for manufacturing.

Work with manufacturing to assist with machine builds, as necessary.

Work with manufacturing for machine commissioning and debug.

Actively verify assembly drawings and work instructions.

Identify opportunities for improvement for fabricated parts and mechanical assemblies.

Bill of material development using ERP software.

Work with Supply Chain to procure parts and mitigate supply issues.

Execute activities according to project schedules

Assist other engineers with development of new product lines.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

5 years' experience in machine design-packaging industry a plus. Consideration will be made for hands-on experience with machine assembly.

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or associate's degree in mechanical engineering plus 10 years of relevant experience is required.

SolidWorks/Inventor proficiency.

Experienced in design of electro-mechanical equipment

Experience in best-practices in designing machined parts, sheet-metal, weldments, and complex mechanisms

Experience with revision control and CAD data management

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

TRAVEL:

Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Less than 10% to support customers and participate in organizational activities.
