Job summary

Entergy in New Orleans seeks engineers to identify and resolve plant issues, acting as a liaison between the engineering team and station departments. You will maintain configuration control for the plant and support outage activities.

Candidates should have a BS in Mechanical or related engineering and progress through Engineer I–Sr. Lead levels, applying design changes and temporary modifications to improve reliability and operations. Training and qualifications are expected.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field for power plant operations.
  • Experience by level: Engineer I (0–2 years), Engineer II (2–3), Engineer III (3–4), Sr. Engineer (4–5), Sr. Lead (6+).

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and resolves plant issues; acts as liaison between the engineering team and other station departments.
  • Maintains configuration control for the plant.
  • Supports Maintenance and Operations in resolution of plant issues from significant events or complex plant problems.
  • Supports Emergency Response Organization (ERO) qualifications and duties.
  • Interfaces with Maintenance and Operations for cost-effective maintenance strategies.
  • Issues engineering changes (Design changes and temporary modifications) to support emergent plant issues and equipment reliability issues.
  • Helps support planning and prioritization aspects of project life cycle.
  • Implements action plans of senior team members to address deficiencies via corrective action and work management processes.
  • Participates in project teams for critical on-line system outages or refueling outages.
  • Serves on outage engineering support teams.
  • Attends training and maintains qualifications necessary to perform required group functions.

Develops engineering products in accordance with defined standards and procedures. Participates in project teams for critical on-line system outages or refueling outages. Serves on outage engineering support teams. Attends training and maintains qualifications necessary to perform required group functions.

Minimum Requirements

B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering degree generally associated with power plant operations.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Engineer I: 0 – 2 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
  • Engineer II: 2 – 3 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
  • Engineer III: 3 – 4 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
  • Sr. Engineer - 4 - 5 years experience in nuclear design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
  • Sr. Lead - 6+ years experience in nuclear design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level and evaluation of past positions
