Schaeffler Group USA Inc. is seeking an engineer to join its humanoid robotics team in Michigan.

You will design planetary gearset actuators for humanoid robots and create detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, and drafting to meet performance and safety standards. You will run simulations and FEA to optimize designs, select appropriate materials, and collaborate closely with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience using CAD software to develop detailed mechanical designs and 3D models.
• Strong knowledge of gear design and planetary gear actuators.
• Experience with actuator systems (electric, hydraulic, pneumatic) for humanoid robots.
• Strong analytical skills for simulations/FEA to optimize performance.

Responsibilities

• Design planetary gearset actuators for humanoid robots.
• Create detailed mechanical designs including 3D modeling and drafting.
• Perform simulations and FEA to evaluate performance and durability.
• Identify and select materials meeting strength, weight, cost and standards.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams for system integration.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate actuator reliability.
