Job summary

BOSS Snowplow (a division of The Toro Company) in Iron Mountain, Michigan, offers a co-op program from January 2027 through August 2027 for mechanical engineering students. You will assist in design, prototyping, testing, and development of new products and improvements, working with operations engineers to cut costs and improve quality.

• Pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with 3D CAD software; Creo Parametric is a plus.
• Basics of welding, metal cutting and forming, painting and assembly.
• Knowledgeable in Engineering Mechanics and Strength of Materials.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership skills to lead a project and pull information from others.
• Problem solving skills.
• Basic understanding of hydraulic systems is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on mechanical skills preferred.
• Demonstrated computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Creo.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.

BOSS Snowplow (a division of the Toro Company) located in Iron Mountain, Michigan, is a leader in the snow and ice management business with a growing lineup of plows for trucks, UTVs and ATVs, salt and sand spreaders, and box plows built for the snow and ice management professional, as well as the homeowner. With a focus on uncompromising quality and high-level craftsmanship, BOSS has grown to be a leader in the sale of snow and ice equipment.

Co-Ops are January 2027 - August 2027.

What Will You Do?

• Assist with design, prototyping, and development of new products and improvements to existing products.


• Conduct required tests, collect data, and analyze results for new or existing products.


• Design tests or test fixtures as needed.


• Recognize and help with problem solving efforts in the Product Development Lab.


• Work with operations engineers to reduce costs and help improve quality of product.

What Do You Need?

• Pursuing a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
