Job summary

Seifert Engineering in Massillon, OH designs and builds machinery and automation systems for diverse industries. The Design Engineer will develop calculations, create detailed drawings, and ensure designs meet client standards, supporting building and installation processes.

Collaborate with engineers and project managers, perform finite element analysis, review drawings, and manage orders while maintaining quality and documentation; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering design or a related field.
• Proficient in SolidWorks (CSW P certification is a plus), Inventor, and AutoCAD.
• Strong computer and mathematical skills, with experience in Finite Element Analysis.
• Experience with weldment design is advantageous, as is familiarity with electronics, robotics, and metals.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated, capable of working effectively in a team environment, and adaptable to change.

Responsibilities

• Drawing & Specification Review: Read, interpret, and review 2D drawings.
• Design & Development: Prepare calculations for proposed machinery, develop sketches and designs using input from engineers and architects, and create designs in compliance with company procedures, regulations, and client standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Project Management, Engineering, and Sales departments to develop optimal products tailored to each project’s needs. Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring proper adherence to design specifications.
• Technical Analysis: Calculate factors such as tolerance, dimensions, and perform finite element analysis. Utilize customer feedback and data to upgrade, improve, or repair existing machinery.
• Project Tracking: Maintain accurate tracking of all projects, bidders’ lists, and specialty projects within the market segment. Finalize designs and send prints to the production department.
• Quality Assurance: Qualify and address any conflicts between drawings and specifications, document all inclusions, exclusions, and discrepancies clearly. Submit drawings to upper management and engineering teams for review.
• Order Management: Handle order entry for all projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
