Job summary

TALENT Software Services in Painted Post, NY seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 12-month, on-site assignment. You will create and revise 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD, and apply GD&T and tolerancing to ensure manufacturability.

The role involves supporting from concept through prototyping, testing, and production release, coordinating with vendors and internal teams, and maintaining engineering documentation and BOMs.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing support, product development, or process equipment design, OR
• BS in Mechanical Engineering with less experience
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and Inventor for 3D modeling, assemblies, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation, and AutoCAD for 2D. Experience with at least two of the three software required.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 3D models, 2D drawings, assemblies, fabrication details, and bills of material using SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering standards to ensure designs are clear, manufacturable, and consistent with project requirements.
• Support mechanical design activities from concept development through prototyping, testing, documentation, and production release.
• Conduct testing, collect and analyze data, and provide recommendations for equipment and process improvements.
• Generate detailed shop drawings, fabrication packages, assembly drawings, and parts lists while maintaining compliance with engineering drafting standards.
