Job summary

JMJ PHILLIP is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and improve mechanical systems for complex applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to create practical, reliable, and manufacturable designs from concept through implementation.

Responsibilities include creating detailed drawings and specifications, performing analyses, supporting projects through production, and collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and procurement to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Several years of progressive mechanical design engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience creating and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD and mechanical design software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to develop, design, and improve mechanical systems and components for complex engineering applications. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to create practical, reliable, and manufacturable designs while supporting projects from concept through implementation.

Position Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Development
  • Develop and refine mechanical designs, components, assemblies, and systems based on project requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Evaluate existing designs and recommend modifications to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Apply engineering principles and established design standards throughout the development process.
Engineering Analysis
  • Perform calculations, evaluations, and design reviews to validate mechanical solutions.
  • Analyze design requirements, constraints, materials, and manufacturing considerations.
  • Identify potential design issues and develop effective technical solutions.
Project Support
  • Support mechanical engineering projects from initial concept through production and implementation.
  • Coordinate design activities, schedules, and technical deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to project teams.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of design or production-related issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with manufacturing, electrical engineering, quality, procurement, and other teams.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners when needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to products, processes, and engineering practices.
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Several years of progressive mechanical design engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience creating and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD and mechanical design software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
  • Additional CAD, mechanical design, manufacturing, or project management certifications are a plus.
