The role focuses on creating and maintaining fabrication drawings and optimizing designs for manufacturability. You will use AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D, analyze customer specifications, and collaborate with production and sales to propose feasible design concepts that meet budgets and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent required; BSME preferred.
  • Two or more years experience in a related field recommended.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes data from customer design requests and specifications to determine feasibility.
  • Consults with production and sales to establish design concepts and present alternatives.
  • Evaluates design ideas based on function, materials, costs, serviceability and client specs.
  • Designs material handling equipment and systems per orders and engineering standards.
  • Performs CAD layouts on AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D as needed.
  • Calculates surface speeds and sizes power transmission components; familiar with gear reducers and pneumatic parts.

Mechanical Design Engineer – On-Site | West Memphis, AR

Important: This is a 100% on-site role at our West Memphis, AR facility. Remote or hybrid work is not available. Applicants must be able to reliably commute or relocate.


Automated Conveyor Systems, Inc. (ACSI) is an employee owned, successful and growing conveyor manufacturer with opportunities for those who have an interest in a manufacturing environment. We sell, design, fabricate and assemble material handling systems for customers all across the U.S. and we\'re currently seeking a full-time Mechanical Designer in our facility in West Memphis, AR, just across the bridge from Memphis, TN.


Job Summary: Researches, plans, and designs mechanical, electro-mechanical and pneumatic material handling equipment and systems. Responsible for creating and maintaining fabrication and assembly drawings for specialty designed equipment.



  • Researches and analyzes data including customer design requests, current standard specifications, and previous designs to determine feasibility of application.

  • Consults with production and sales departments to establish design concepts and presents alternatives to suit customer needs.

  • Evaluates design ideas based on factors such as design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and client specifications.

  • Designs material handling equipment and systems based on customer specifications outlined in factory orders and in accordance with good manufacturing practices, company policy and engineering standards.

  • Perform design and layouts on CAD systems as needed. Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D is preferred.

  • Experienced with calculating surface speeds and sizing power transmission components such as chain or timing belt drives. Familiar with various brands of gear reducers, fractional HP motors, flange bearings, and pneumatic components such as cylinders, valves, and fittings.


Qualified candidates should possess at least an Associates Degree or equivalent, (BSME preferred). Two or more years experience is a related field or the equivalent combination is preferred, but not required.


Office hours are 8 – 5, Mon–Thurs (8 – 4:30, Friday).
