Job summary

Job description

• Responsible for the design, layout, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical components or systems.
• Prepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval.
• Analyzes mechanical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
• Investigates solutions to product or process problems.
• Consolidates results of mechanical design elements for assigned projects.
• Performs product development activities including drawing board layout and interpretation/implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
• Experienced professional with proficient knowledge of job area and practical knowledge of project management.
• May manage projects or processes with general supervision.
• Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
• Recommends enhancements to systems and processes.
• Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.

Essential Functions:

• Provide creative and innovative design solutions that meet product requirements for high performance, high pressure pneumatic mechanisms/systems.
• Work closely with a broad team from engineering and operations to collaborate on effective solutions to design challenges.
• Support conceptual and detail design processes by using your background in CAD design
• Provide support to structural and thermal analysis tasks including first order hand calculations and FEA.
• Present data in design review settings (e.g. PDR, CDR), both internal and external
• Provide strong contributions to the overall product design dialogue from inception through production.
• Provide hands-on support during development, prototyping, integration and test activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Degree to be in mechanical engineering or a related field
• CAD design skills, including part, and assembly-level modeling in a mechanical design software preferably Creo.
• CAD drafting skills with the ability to interpret and create 2D drawings
• Basic knowledge of structural analysis methods using hand calculations
• Ability to manage small to medium projects or processes that are both inside and outside of immediate job area.
