Job summary

Interactive Resources - iR is seeking a Mechanical Equipment Design Engineer for a greenfield advanced manufacturing facility. You will design, develop, integrate, and commission custom production equipment, automated machinery, fixtures, tooling, and electromechanical systems from concept to startup.

In this hands-on role you’ll create 3D CAD models and drawings, work with controls engineers on PLC-controlled equipment, and partner with vendors to realize new plant capabilities, from

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience designing mechanical equipment, industrial machinery, automation, or manufacturing systems.
• Strong 3D CAD and mechanical drawing experience.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and equipment schematics.
• Experience taking equipment from design through installation and startup.
• Strong problem-solving and project execution skills.

Responsibilities

• Support equipment projects from initial concept through fabrication, installation, commissioning, and startup

• Partner with equipment vendors, machine builders, fabricators, and contractors
• Troubleshoot equipment and support reliability, production optimization, and continuous improvement

Are you a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys taking equipment from concept to reality?

We’re seeking a Mechanical Equipment Design Engineer to play a key role in the development and launch of a new, state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing facility. This is a highly hands-on opportunity where you’ll design, develop, integrate, and commission custom production equipment, automated machinery, fixtures, tooling, and electromechanical systems.

This is more than a traditional design role—you’ll have the opportunity to see your designs move from the drawing board through fabrication, installation, qualification, commissioning, and production startup.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

Preferred Background

• Experience with automated assembly, robotics, electromechanical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, machine builders, equipment qualification, or new plant/startup environments is highly valued.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, energetic materials, highly regulated manufacturing, or other safety-critical environments is a plus.
